Why Do You Need a Divorce Lawyer for a Prenuptial Agreement?
Divorce is one of the most challenging periods of your life. But it is even harder to think when you are about to get married. Hire Texas divorce lawyers for the prenup agreement before marriage.
Contrary to popular opinion, prenuptial agreements are not just for the wealthy couple. Many lawyers are seeing an increasing number of couples seeking to sign prenuptial agreements before marriage. Probably because most Millenials get married later in life, and if someone has already collected some property before the wedding, they do not want to share it if the marriage does not work out.
Most importantly, the prenuptial agreement must legally get drafted by the family lawyers in dallas texas for the prenuptial agreement; otherwise, the court may declare it null and void in the event of a divorce. With a prenuptial agreement, the divorce attorney confirms that the prenuptial agreement is valid if the court requires it in the future. It is why hiring a prenuptial agreement lawyer works for your benefit.
What is a prenuptial agreement?
A prenuptial agreement is a legally binding contract that explains how you and your spouse will separate the assets if you divorce later. You can include many other financial issues before marriage, including whether any spouse will pay maintenance (spousal support) in the event of a divorce and whether you will be liable for each other's debts.
Usually, you will need to prepare a complete list of your assets and liabilities, and your future spouse should do the same. If you want to keep your property separate, you can ensure that each property remains with the actual owner. Prenuptial agreements are especially beneficial if you have a business or other assets you own and acquire before marriage.
All states have different rules for prenuptial agreements. If you are unfamiliar with the law of your country and are not comfortable with interpreting laws, you should hire a lawyer. In fact, in some states, each of you may need to have your attorney review your prenup.
One of the best ways to hire a qualified Texas divorce attorney is to ask family and friends for a referral in your area. Your state may have resources to help you find lawyers who can help you.
The attorney ensures that the agreement meets the required essentials
A prenuptial agreement must meet certain conditions for the court to consider it valid. It is crucial to note that family law varies massively from state to country, but even prenuptial conditions are consistent irrespective of differences in one's place of residence.
One of the conditions is that both parties must disclose all assets, financial obligations, and income when signing a prenup. Another condition is that both parties must be provided with sufficient time to review the prenup before signing.
The court also requires that each party obtain legal representation during the process. A Texas divorce attorney makes it easy to understand the conditions you must meet in the prenuptial agreement depending on the state you live.
They help you to understand what you are agreeing to and signing to
Another benefit of contacting a prenuptial agreement attorney when signing a prenup is that they help you understand the effects of what you are signing.
Sometimes a prenuptial agreement may have negative consequences for one of the parties. Also, wandering into a prenuptial agreement without legal advice can cause you to overlook other important details.
Also, you cannot ignore that some prenuptial agreements have been declared invalid by the court because of negligence or when one party fails to disclose the amount of their property.
One of the best divorce attorneys in Texas eliminates that concern and helps you better understand the terms of the agreement. It is best if each party has an attorney for the prenuptial agreement.
Verify the validity of your prenuptial agreement
A prenuptial agreement is essential in the event of a divorce and the court considers it carefully, so it is crucial to have an independent lawyer. While not all courts need that, the absence of independent lawyers can create uncertainty for the judge.
Additionally, negligent mistakes in a prenuptial agreement may make it invalid. Before signing a contract, a lawyer with knowledge of a prenuptial agreement is crucial.
Knowledge of family law is the key to writing a prenup
The prenuptial agreement indicates how you would like your marriage assets to be divided in the event of a divorce. It knows how the court will separate the property, but you want to do it differently by signing a prenup.
The family lawyers in dallas texas with knowledge of family law understands what rights you may be violating and can help you understand the full consequences of a prenuptial agreement.
Conclusion
A couple agrees to separate their property if the relationship breaks down
by arranging for a prenuptial agreement. The aim is to avoid the costs and inconvenience of involving the Family Court.
A prenup can also be relied upon if one partner dies and their executor shares their estate. If the prenup is valid, the executor must follow the agreement.
Choosing a pre-up attorney or a lawyer who is well versed in drafting and interpreting prenuptial agreements will be best to help you file a contract or represent you in a dispute. Your attorneys will help you submit your wishes to the appropriate legal form so that your state recognizes you as a valid contract.

My Review
5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Fantastic!
This was such a Fantastic read. So entertaining! Lisa Renee Jones brings awesome hate-flirt in this enemies to lovers romance that had me smiling big time. Sparks fly and Jason meets his match, when broken-hearted, divorce attorney, “City girl” Jessica rents out a isolated cabin.
Swoon worthy hero? Check. Strong determined heroine? Check. Major attitude and animosity? Check. Being in total denial of your feelings? Oh Yeah! Interfering Grandma? Check. Check.
Jason and Jessica were so awesome together. Their animosity and heat towards one another was off the charts and I loved being absorbed into it all. Their conflicts made for the best one liners, great verbal sparing and sizzling chemistry. There were just so many great moments between them and I couldn’t get enough. These two clash and its ridiculously fantastic! I love the bickering and tension. And when they explode they explode! I also love straight shooting Grandma Martha and everything she does to throw these two together.
Get ready for some serious fun, a whole lot of of emotion, heartwarming charm, and off the charts sexy in this Incredibly Fantastic story. I’m a huge fan of Lisa Renee Jones and books like “The Truth About Cowboys” is why. It’s the kind of book you can get lost in and never want to leave. What a way to start off this series!
I eagerly accepted an early copy of this story for an honest opinion.

How a Child Support Law Firm in Dallas Can Help You Navigate Complex Cases
Introduction
Navigating child support cases can be a challenging and emotionally taxing experience, especially when the stakes are high for both parents and children. In Dallas, many individuals facing complex child support issues turn to a child support law firm for guidance, legal expertise, and support in securing the most favorable outcomes. These firms, staffed by seasoned child support attorneys in Dallas, provide crucial assistance to clients, ensuring that their rights and the best interests of their children are protected throughout the legal process.
Understanding Child Support in Dallas
Child support is a legal obligation imposed on parents to provide financial support for their children following a separation or divorce. The purpose of child support is to ensure that both parents contribute to their child’s well-being, covering essential needs such as food, clothing, education, and healthcare. However, child support cases can become complicated when there are disputes over income, custody arrangements, or even the accuracy of financial disclosures. This is where the expertise of a child support law firm in Dallas becomes invaluable.
Expertise in Complex Child Support Cases
In Dallas, child support cases can involve a wide range of complexities. For example, a parent may dispute the amount of child support calculated based on their income, or one parent might believe that the other is hiding assets or underreporting their income. Furthermore, child support cases may involve modifications to existing arrangements when there has been a significant change in circumstances, such as job loss, remarriage, or relocation.
A child support law firm in Dallas specializes in navigating these challenging scenarios. With deep knowledge of Texas family law, these firms help clients understand their rights and obligations under the law. Their role often includes assisting clients in gathering the necessary documentation to establish their financial standing or challenging an unfair child support order. Moreover, child support attorneys are well-versed in the rules regarding modification of child support and can represent clients seeking changes to existing agreements.
Proactive Representation and Legal Strategy
The experience and reputation of a child support law firm in Dallas often play a significant role in securing favorable outcomes for their clients. Many firms focus on achieving the best possible results, even before formal charges or legal proceedings begin. The ability to negotiate with opposing parties and the District Attorney’s office is a key advantage these firms bring to the table. Having handled numerous cases, child support attorneys are familiar with the local legal system, its key players, and how to strategically position their clients for success.
One of the strategies that a child support attorney in Dallas may employ is the proactive gathering of evidence. Whether this means collecting witness statements that support a client’s case or identifying discrepancies in the other party’s financial disclosures, thorough preparation is critical. This comprehensive approach to building a case can often lead to more favorable outcomes, such as reduced financial obligations or even a dismissal of claims. By preparing diligently for trial, attorneys also ensure that their clients are well-positioned to fight back against unfair accusations or legal strategies from the opposing side.
Negotiating Favorable Settlements
In many child support cases, the goal is not always to go to trial but to negotiate a settlement that both parties can agree upon. Child support attorneys in Dallas are skilled negotiators, leveraging their knowledge of local laws and experience with past cases to advocate for their clients. They may work to negotiate a lower child support payment or alternative payment methods that better suit their client’s financial situation. The strong working relationships that many attorneys have with local courts and district attorneys enable them to secure better deals for their clients compared to those who lack such experience.
These negotiations often involve gathering key financial documents, ensuring that income is accurately reported, and uncovering any hidden assets that may influence the support calculation. Additionally, attorneys can help their clients seek alternative solutions, such as shared custody arrangements that reduce child support obligations or strategies for reducing the length of time payments are required.
Reducing Legal Consequences
When the other side has a stronger case, child support attorneys in Dallas work tirelessly to minimize the consequences for their clients. In some instances, they may seek to suppress evidence that could harm their client’s case or challenge the validity of the opposing party’s claims. Other times, the strategy may involve seeking alternative solutions to harsh penalties. For example, a child support law firm may explore options like community service, probation, or house arrest as alternatives to harsher consequences if the case involves issues of non-payment or enforcement.
By staying ahead of potential legal hurdles, these attorneys strive to protect their clients from unnecessary financial burdens or legal penalties. The dedication to minimizing the consequences in challenging situations is a hallmark of experienced child support law firms, and this dedication often leads to favorable outcomes for their clients.
Conclusion
Navigating the complexities of child support cases in Dallas requires expert legal representation from a qualified child support law firm in Dallas. From proactive representation and evidence gathering to negotiating favorable settlements and reducing legal consequences, child support attorneys in Dallas are well-equipped to handle even the most complex cases. Whether you are dealing with disputes over support amounts, seeking a modification to an existing agreement, or facing enforcement actions, having the right legal team by your side can make all the difference. By leveraging their expertise and experience, these attorneys help their clients achieve the best possible outcomes while protecting their financial future and their relationship with their children.

SOURCE Dunnam & Dunnam LLP Related Links http://www.dunnamlaw.com Twin Peaks seeks venue change for lawsuit Extensive media coverage about the May 17 Twin Peaks shootout has "damaged the Twin Peaks name in general" and has made it impossible to pick an impartial jury in McLennan County, a Twin Peaks motion to move a civil trial claims. In response to a lawsuit filed in August by an unnamed Texas couple who were eating lunch at Twin Peaks when the violence erupted between rival biker groups, Twin Peaks asks 74th State Judge Gary Coley Jr. to move the lawsuit from McLennan County to Dallas County. The lawsuit plaintiffs are identified only as M.K.H. and C.R.H. Their lawsuit names as defendants Peaktastic Beverage, Front Burner Restaurants, Twin Restaurant Investment Co. and Chalik Mitra Group. The motion to change venue was filed by Twin Peaks’ parent corporation and does not appear to be on behalf of Chalik Mitra Group, the former Twin Peaks franchise holders in Waco and Harker Heights. Both of those restaurants have been closed since the Waco incident and the franchisees have been stripped of their association with Twin Peaks. No hearing date for the motion has been set. A tentative trial date has been set for April 4, 2016. The motion says that while there is a "large distinction" between the entities associated with the Twin Peaks franchisor and the franchisee that owned and operated the Waco restaurant, "all of the negative publicity has damaged the Twin Peaks name in general," the motion states. "Since the incident, thousands of articles have been written about the ‘Twin Peaks shootings,’ almost all of which are negative, or highly prejudicial," the motion states. "The Waco Tribune alone has written approximately 221 articles related to the shooting since the incident occurred. Almost every headline includes the Twin Peaks name or refers to the incident as the ‘May 17 Twin Peaks shootout.’ "The residents of McLennan County are bombarded with a barrage of negative information regarding ‘Twin Peaks’ on a daily basis. In addition, the incident has put Waco at the center of an international spotlight that its residents find unflattering," the motion states. While Mark Goodman, a Dallas attorney who represents Twin Peaks, did not return phone messages Monday, the Twin Peaks corporate office in Addison issued a statement about the change of venue motion. "Given the extensive, ongoing media coverage in Waco about this tragedy, we believe it would be easier to find impartial jurors outside the local area," the statement said. The suit, filed on the plaintiffs’ behalf by Waco attorney Hamilton Lindley , seeks unspecified damages for medical care for injuries suffered during the incident, physical pain and suffering, loss of earnings and mental anguish. Lindley declined comment on the change of venue motion. "In defiance of repeated law enforcement warnings, Twin Peaks invited rival biker gangs to its Waco restaurant on May 17, 2015," the lawsuit says. "Predictably, these rival gangs — fueled by Twin Peaks alcohol — began fighting." The plaintiffs, who are not affiliated with a biker group, according to the lawsuit, were having lunch there when the shooting started. "When the bullets began flying, plaintiffs were trapped inside defendants’ property and forced to find cover to avoid being shot," the suit alleges. "Plaintiffs suffered personal injuries, including cuts, bruises and abrasions. Plaintiffs also suffered damage to their personal property and significant emotional trauma."

Family Lawyers in Houston – A couple weeks ago I met with a husband who wanted to divorce his wife. I was informed by the consult that this would be an “easy case” Whenever a consult tells me how easy the case will be, I always silently think, “We shall see.”
REASON 1 IT WOULD BE AN EASY DIVORCE – ADULTERY
The first reason the husband gave me that this would be an easy divorce was that he had evidence his wife had cheated on him multiple times.
As the readers of our blog will know, evidence of adultery is not the trump card that means you get everything you want and your ex gets nothing.
REASON 2 IT WOULD BE AN EASY DIVORCE – NO CHILDREN
Another reason that the consult gave that the case should be easy is there were no children.
This information moved my thinking slightly closer towards his point of view. No children eliminated one of the three issues in a divorce. Without children, his case would only be about getting a divorce and dividing the property.
REASON 3 IT WOULD BE AN EASY DIVORCE – NO PROPERTY TOGETHER
The husband’s final reason for why this case would be so easy is that all the property was in his name. This statement made me inwardly sigh. I thought I was going to explain to the consult how Texas is a community property state and what that meant.
The consult went on to tell me he had been married previously and in that divorce, he was awarded the house. That house was really the only asset and because he had it prior to the marriage, it was his separate property.
This statement gave me hope for the consult. What he was telling me was basically true, at least regarding the house. I asked him one clarifying question: “did you ever add her to the deed?”
My consult then went on to explain, “Well, yes. We kept getting statements from the property taxes, which had my name and my wife’s name on the statement and that upset my current wife. To solve the problem, I added her to the deed.”
Based on what this consult told me, I was agreed that the house was completely his separate property after the divorce… up until he added his current wife to the deed.
COMMUNITY PROPERTY
Family Law Attorneys Houston – In general, Texas Community Property is property acquired by either spouse during the marriage.
There is a rebuttable presumption that all property owned at marriage is community property.
SEPARATE PROPERTY
Separate Property in Texas is:
1. Property acquired before marriage; 2. Property acquired during marriage by gift, devise, or descent; 3. Property acquired during marriage, but purchased with separate property funds.
SEPARATE PROPERTY & GIFTS
The landmine the consult walked himself into was when he added his current wife to the deed, he arguably gifted her part of his home. The house then possibly became 50/50 separate property.
Under Texas Family Code Section 3.001(2), gifts are separate property.
In a Houston appellate court case, Raymond v. Raymond, 190 S.W.3d 77, 81 (Tex. App.—Houston [1st Dist.] 2005, no pet.) it was found that a deed for property from one spouse as grantor to the other spouse as grantee creates a presumption the grantee spouse received the property as separate property by gift.
In the case, Hilley v. Hilley, 161 Tex. 569, 575, 342 S.W.2d 565, 569 (1961). The court found that a gift is a voluntary transfer of property to another made gratuitously and without consideration.
The elements of a gift are:
1. the intent to make a gift; 2. delivery of the property; and 3. acceptance of the property.
I explained this to the consult and that very likely would be the argument her attorney would make.
SEPARATE AND NOT COMMUNITY PROPERTY
Houston Family Law Lawyers – On a side note, it was separate property and not community property because in order for him to create community property, he would have had to comply with section 4.202 of the Texas Family Code. A statutory disclosure of the effect of the transfer that would need to be signed by both him and his wife, and the document would need to declare that it was creating community property.
WHAT CAN I DO?
The consult was understandably not happy about the information he was given and wanted to know what his options were.
ARGUE THAT THE HOUSE WAS NOT SEPARATE PROPERTY
One possible option would be to argue that the house was not her separate property and that no gift was intended.
In order for the consult to fight against the transfer being a gift, he has the burden of rebutting presumption. The reasons given in the various cases I read that a court would accept in overcoming the presumption include fraud, accident, or mistake.
The husband’s argument would need to be that he never intended to make a gift. If a court believed him, then his house may still be completely his separate property.
OTHER CASE LAW
Family Law Lawyer Houston – The husband is not the only person to have ever faced this situation. I normally hear about this type of thing happening when someone goes to refinance a house.
In one case, Magness v. Magness, 241 S.W.3d 910 (Tex. App.—Dallas 2007, pet. denied), a wife made just such an argument that she never intended to make a gift of her separate property and that she had only signed the deed in order to refinance the house. The court found against her and that the property was 50% owned by each spouse.
In another case of refinancing in, re Marriage of Skarda, 2011 WL 2502946 (Tex.App.—Amarillo 2011)(No. 07-09-00191-CV)(June 23, 2011), a similar outcome was reached where both spouses ended up with 50% ownership in the property.
DISPROPORTIONATE SHARE OF THE PROPERTY
I explained to the consult that, should his argument about it still being his separate property be denied, another possible option would be to argue for a disproportionate share of the property. Where adultery is a factor, a court can award a disproportionate (more than 50% of the community property to one spouse) share of the property to the spouse that was cheated on.
One wrinkle to this plan is that only community property can be awarded… Continue Reading

E. Lynn Harris
Everette Lynn Harris (June 20, 1955 – July 23, 2009) was an American author. Openly gay, he was best known for his depictions of African-American men who were on the down-low and closeted. He authored ten consecutive books that reached The New York Times Best Seller list, making him among the most successful African-American or gay authors of his era.
Biography
Born Everette Lynn Jeter in Flint, Michigan, Harris moved to Little Rock, Arkansas, with his mother at the age of 3. Upon his mother's marriage to Ben Harris, his surname was changed to Harris. By the time he was 13 years old, his mother divorced his stepfather who had abused Harris for years.
Harris was one of the first African-American students at Forest Heights Junior High and Hall High School in Little Rock. Generally well-liked by his classmates, two of his closest friends were Karen Krenz and Becka Henry. Harris also had homes in Houston, Texas, Atlanta, Georgia, and Fayetteville, Arkansas. In his writings, Harris maintained a poignant motif, occasionally emotive, that incorporated vernacular and slang from popular culture.
Harris became the first black male cheerleader as well as the first black yearbook editor while attending the University of Arkansas. After graduation, he became a computer salesman with IBM, AT&T, and Hewlett-Packard for 13 years living in Dallas, Texas, Washington, D.C., and Atlanta. In 1990, Harris attempted suicide during a dark phase of depression and heavy drinking but later found the will to live through his writing. Harris relieved himself of his salesman duties and quit in order to begin writing his first novel. Harris was initially unable to land a book deal with a publishing house for his first work, Invisible Life, so he published it himself and sold copies from his car trunk. He later was published by Doubleday, and ten of his novels achieved New York Times bestseller status.
Alongside fiction, Harris had also penned a personal memoir, What Becomes of the Brokenhearted. Also see, "Lynn's Angels - The True Story of E. Lynn Harris and the Women Who Loved Him" by Vanessa Gilmore. www.vanessagilmore.com
Death
Harris died July 23, 2009, while in Los Angeles for a business meeting. He was found unconscious at the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, and was pronounced dead at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. An autopsy determined that the cause of death was heart disease. That same day, Harris had fallen ill on the train to Los Angeles and blacked out but was fine after, according to his publicist Laura Gilmore.

Invisible Life
Harris' first novel, Invisible Life finished in 1991, was a coming-of-age story dealing with then-taboo topics. Most important was that it openly questioned sexual identity and told the story of main character Raymond Tyler. Tyler, torn between his married male lover and girlfriend Nicole, is a New York attorney struggling with identifying as a bisexual black man. He ultimately settles into gay life, while much of the novel is dedicated to Tyler's reflection on that choice.
Any Way the Wind Blows
Harris' 2002 novel, Any Way the Wind Blows, is the sequel to his previous book, Not A Day Goes By. It follows the jilted Yancey Harrington as she pursues success and stardom in L.A, and her wayward bisexual ex-fiancé Basil Henderson, who has left thoughts of matrimony behind in favour of singledom.
What Becomes Of The Brokenhearted: A Memoir
What Becomes Of The Brokenhearted: A Memoir is E. Lynn Harris' autobiographical reflection. It concerns the rise of a small-town boy to a successful writer, detailing his battle with depression and "coming out" experience as a gay African American.
A Love of My Own
A Love of My Own is Harris' 2003 novel, which won Blackboard's 'Novel of the Year Award'. It details a year in the lives of several characters living in New York. It is narrated alternately by Zola Norwood, editor of a hip-hop magazine, and Raymond Tyler Jr., the magazine's CEO. It deals with both the trials and tribulations of the characters's love and work lives against the backdrop of the cultural and political events of 2001 and 2002.
